Dandelions plants are fast growers and can grow from bud to seed in a just a few short days. Dandelions are considered a perrenial plant and can live for many years. Some species of dandelion are biennial and only live for about two years, while others can survive for much longer. Dandelions also have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant. At dawn, the the dandelion flower opens up to greet the early hour sunshine. In the evening the dandelion closes in order to 'sleep'. By closing at night, they protect their sensitive inner parts from the cold, and they reduce moisture loss so there is nectar for the next day to attract more insects for pollination.
