Dandelion and similar ragweed plants are a major cause of allergies for many. A dandelion allergy is common especially in the late summer months when the plants produce more pollen. Some people may develop allergic reaction (contact dermatitis) after touching or consuming dandelion. The symptoms involve a red, or itchy rash on the skin. Dandelion should be avoided by individuals with known allergy to honey, chamomile, chrysanthemums, yarrow, feverfew, or any members of the Asteraceae/Compositae plant families (ragweed, sunflower, daisies).
