Crepis, commonly known in some parts of the world as hawksbeard or hawk's-beard, is a genus of annual and perennial flowering plants of the family Asteraceae. The Asteraceae or Compositae (commonly referred to as the aster, daisy, composite, or sunflower family) are an exceedingly large and widespread family of flowering plants.

Hawksbeard, which is similar to the related genus of Hieracium (Hawksweed) because of its resemblance to the Dandelion. The main difference is that Crepis usually has branching scapes with multiple heads (though solitary heads can occur). There are about 200 species in the genus and the seeds of Crepis are an important food source for some bird species.   Source-Wikipedia
